Wilson HS received the 2006-2007 "Miramonte League Sportsmanship" award, which recognizes the student body and faculty for the citizenship they display in school activities.

The award was presented Wed. at Dodger Stadium. Student-athlete Devon Rennie accepted the award on behalf of the school.

Classes at Bonita HS were closed last Friday. Officials suspected missing teen Matthew Wanamaker of taking guns from his parents' La Verne home. Eight years after the Columbine shootings, school authorities feared a repeat. He was found that weekend in an Ontario hotel. An investigation of burglary and grand theft is ongoing.

state write-offs

Members of the Wilson Paw Prints staff and The Prowler staff participated in the SCJEA write-offs this past weekend.

Paw Prints took second place in newspaper sweepstakes, with several of its staff members honored for superb writing.

The Prowler earned third place in sweepstakes, taking second in layout and fourth in copy.
